Melissa McCarthy will star opposite Nicole Kidman in the Hulu tentpole limited series “Nine Perfect Strangers” based on the book by Liane Moriarty (“Big Little Lies”). Both actresses will executive produce alongside David E. Kelley.
Co-written by Kelley, John Henry Butterworth and Samantha Strauss and co-showrun by Kelley and Butterworth, the story takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation.
Nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living, and are watched over during this ten-day retreat by the resort’s director Masha (Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. McCarthy will play Francis, one of the strangers.
This will mark McCarthy’s first series regular role since CBS’ “Mike & Molly”. Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver also executive produce the series which is expected to debut in 2021.
