“Mean Girls” is returning to the big screen – albeit in musical form.
Producers of the hit Tony-nominated Broadway show, which is based on the 2004 film, have announced that their musical stage adaptation is being adapted for the big screen for Paramount Pictures.
The original film’s writer and co-star Tina Fey, who also wrote the stage production, said in a statement: “I’m very excited to bring ‘Mean Girls’ back to the big screen. Its been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent sixteen years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”
Producers are also in final talks to bring the stage show to London’s West End next year.
