Universal Pictures and Bluegrass Films have optioned the film rights to Matt Ruff’s 2007 psychological thriller novel “Bad Monkeys” with plans to adapt it as a feature.
Margot Robbie is slated to produce and is attached to star in the film as Jane Charlotte, who has been arrested for murder. Charlotte claims she’s a member of a secret organization devoted to fighting evil and that she’s working with the Department for the Final Disposition of Irredeemable Persons – aka ‘Bad Monkeys’.
Her confession lands her in the jail’s psychiatric wing, but is she truly crazy or is she playing a whole different game altogether? Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark will also produce.
