Knight Sorrentino Apple Set Ferrari Series

Apple TV+ is gearing up for a TV series about Enzo Ferrari which “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight and Oscar-winning “The Hand of God” director Paolo Sorrentino will executive produce.

Stefano Sollima (“Sicario: Day of Soldado”) directs the series created and written by Knight and based on Luca Dal Monte’s “Ferrari Rex”.

The late 1950s-set series will examine how Ferrari set out to build the fastest racing car in history – and left a trail of tragedy along the way including the death of his firstborn son and a betrayal by his lead driver. Ferrari opted to rebuild his racing team from the ground up.

The project is completely separate from the long-gestating film biopic about Enzo Ferrari which is set in 1957 as Ferrari seeks victory at the treacherous Mille Miglia. Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone (“Dom”) recently joined that project as driving star Alfonso De Portago.

No word as yet when to expect the Apple series.
