Disney’s Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson-led “Jungle Cruise” film is sailing towards an estimated $32.5 million opening weekend at the U.S. domestic box office.

The feature, based on the famed Disneyland theme park ride, took in $13.4 million on Friday, ahead of expectations even as the Delta variant of COVID-19 might deter some moviegoers. It also bests the pre-pandemic opening of the Johnson-led “Skyscraper” ($24.9M) and is on par with his “Rampage” ($35.7M)

Should it meet its overall estimates, it would be an opening weekend on par with “Space Jam: A New Legacy”. The film, which received an A- CinemaScore from audiences, is also available to rent on Disney+ for $30.

Second and third place are set to be a fight between David Lowery’s “The Green Knight” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Old” which took in $2.8 million and $2.1 million respectively on Friday with both likely to earn somewhere in the $5-7 million mark for the weekend.

“Black Widow” is on track for fourth with $1.93 million on Friday, while the Matt Damon-led “Stillwater” is likely to come in fifth with $1.84 million on Friday and a likely $4.5 million weekend total.
