Jeremy Strong May Play Mark Zuckerberg?

HBO

Following reports of Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White having had meetings about joining “The Social Network Part II,” another name has come up – “Succession” star Jeremy Strong.

THR reports that the role that Strong is playing isn’t clear, with one key role being the editor of The Wall Street Journal.

However, the trade says one option that is coming up is that he could also be playing Facebook/Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Jesse Eisenberg scored an Oscar nomination for his role as Zuckerberg in the 2010 film and presently has passed on reprising the role for this follow-up – though that door isn’t entirely shut yet.

Aaron Sorkin, who won an Oscar for the original, wrote the script and will direct the film inspired by a series of articles Jeff Horwitz wrote for The Wall Street Journal known as The Facebook Files.

White would play Horwitz, while Mikey Madison is tipped to play data engineer-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen, who went to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Wall Street Journal with her information.

Sorkin is currently packaging a cast and budget that he will then show to the studio for final approval, and officially, no casting offers have been made at this time as the film is still in development. However, it is said to be a top priority for the studio.

Sorkin, Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser are producing.
