Hugh Jackman will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wolverine in “Deadpool 3” with the film set for a September 6th 2024 release – sandwiched between Marvel’s fifth and sixth phases.
The news was made official by actor Ryan Reynolds in a new video released through his social media channels.
“Deadpool 3” is now being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin
Shawn Levy (“Free Guy,” “Real Steel”) is set to direct and says in a statement: “I want to take a minute to thank ‘Stranger Things’ for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now.”
The project plans to be as R-rated as the first two movies and marks the first movie in the “Deadpool” film series following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
The previous two films had a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion.
