Former “Hornblower” and “Fantastic Four” alum Ioan Gruffudd has closed a deal to join Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the fourth “Bad Boys” film at Sony Pictures.
“Bad Boys: For Life” helmers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are returning to direct from a script by Chris Bremner, which sees several of the third film’s cast members like Paola Nunez, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig all back alongside franchise regulars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Also joining the action are Eric Dane and Gruffudd, with the latter reportedly playing Lockwood – a high-profile attorney running for election. Plot specifics for the film are under wraps.
The third film ended as Miami PD Detectives Mike Lowery (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) took charge of the AMMO group of specialists. Filming is underway in Atlanta after the project was fast-tracked.
The third “Bad Boys” film pulled in $426.5 million at the worldwide box office from a $90 million budget – the best of the franchise to date and the fourth highest-grossing film of 2020.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman produce, whilst Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman and Jon Mone are executive producers.
