Armie Hammer has exited his role as the male lead opposite Jennifer Lopez in the upcoming romantic adventure feature “Shotgun Wedding” which was about to begin production in the Dominican Republic.
The “Call Me By Your Name” and “Rebecca” star was trending on social media last weekend after direct Instagram messages that appeared to be written by Hammer were posted.
Those messages have not been verified and shared graphic sexual fantasies that involved cannibalism and blood-drinking. Hammer says he is “not responding to these bulls–t claims” but in the wake of the those “vicious and spurious online attacks against me” he can’t in good conscience leave his family for several months for the shoot.
A representative for the production says “Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
