Actor Gerard Butler is mostly known these days for being an action star appearing in numerous genre films which hardly make anyone’s Top 10 lists – critical reviews for them are often downright terrible whilst audience reviews seem to be quite varied.
Now and then though one comes through looking pretty good and this week that has happened with “Greenland,” the apocalyptic tale which just went direct to PVOD and is now available on numerous outlets from iTunes to Google Play.
With 71 reviews counted, the film currently stands at a quite good 75% (6.2/10) score on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s considerably up on the 28-49% range Butler’s “Has Fallen” trilogy has ranked between, the decent scores of “Den of Thieves” (42%) and “Hunter Killer” (37%), and the disastrous scores for “Geostorm” (16%), “Gods of Egypt” (15%) and “Playing for Keeps” (4%).
In fact the only recent Butler film it falls shy of aside from the “How to Train Your Dragon” movies is 2018’s “The Vanishing,” a lighthouse mystery tale which sits at 85%.
“Greenland” is now available to rent for $19.99 on various services.
