We’ve already seen Nicolas Cage vs. killer animatronics and pig kidnappers this year, now get ready for him to take on ninjas, ghosts and samurais – all in one movie.
RLJE Films has set a September 17th cinema and digital release date for the bonkers looking post-Apocalyptic western action horror feature “Prisoners of the Ghostland” which hails from Japanese filmmaker Sion Sono (“The Forest of Love,” “Love Exposure”).
Cage plays Hero, a notorious criminal sprung from the jail of frontier city Samurai Town by wealthy warlord The Governor. Seems The Governor’s adopted granddaughter has disappeared into a dark nightmare world where Hero must break the evil curse controlling it.
Hero is also strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within three days – meaning there’s a time limit in which to get the young woman back. Sofia Boutella, Bill Moseley, Ed Skrein, Nick Cassavetes, Tak Sakaguchi and Jai West co-star.
That’s not the only film setting a release date today as Halle Berry’s directorial debut, the MMA sports drama film “Bruised,” will launch on Netflix on November 23rd.
Berry stars as Jackie Justice, a disgraced MMA fighter who faces one of the rising stars in the field while also dealing with the return of her six-year-old son.
Shamier Anderson, Adan Canto, Sheila Atim, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Valentina Shevchenko co-star. The film had its worldwide premiere in Toronto last year to rave reviews.
