Fox has handed out a straight-to-series order for a small screen reboot of TV classic “Fantasy Island” to debut Summer 2021.
This will be a modern semi-anthology series that “delves into the ‘what if’ questions, both big and small, that keep us awake at night. Each episode will tell stories about people who walk in with a desire, but end up reborn to themselves through the magical realism of Fantasy Island.”
The series will be a co-production between Sony Pictures Television, Gemstone Studios, and Fox Entertainment and will be handled by “Angel,” “Lie to Me” and “The Shield” writers and executive producers Liz Craft and Sarah Fain.
It follows on not just the 1978 original and a short lived 1998 remake, but a Blumhouse horror feature spin on the property earlier this year.
