Filmmaker Matt Reeves has taken to Twitter to formally announce the start of principal photography today in the UK on the highly anticipated “The Batman” with a photo shared of the initial clapperboard which boasts an early version of the logo.
Production on the film has been underway for a few weeks with photographers and paparazzi photographing props and extras likely being used for some early second unit filming. There have been no glimpses of the main cast members at this point.
The official news follows rumored over the weekend on Batman-on-Film which indicated that Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne will be solely responsible for his costume in the new movie – a suit cobbled together from his own resources as opposed to being packed with gadgets courtesy of Wayne Industries. The Batmobile is also being described as being “akin to a muscle car”.
Warner Brothers is generally very diligent and aware of the power of ‘costume first look’ photos and will hopefully unveil a good quality shot of Pattinson in the suit sooner rather than later.
“The Batman” opens in cinemas on June 25th 2021.
