Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell are reuniting to executive produce and star in a TV series adaptation of Wondery and Bloomberg Media’s podcast “The Shrink Next Door” from MRC.
Inspired by true events, the dark comedy follows the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist to the stars Dr. Isaac ‘Ike’ Herschkopf (Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin ‘Marty’ Markowitz (Ferrell).
Over the course of their relationship, Ike slowly takes over Marty’s life, even moving into Marty’s home and taking over his family business.
No network or streaming service is currently attached to the property. Georgia Pritchett (“Succession,” “Veep”) will write and executive produce, while Michael Showalter is attached to direct and executive produce.
The two actors previously worked together on the “Anchorman” films. MRC recently set up the drama series “The Terminal List” with Chris Pratt attached to star and Antoine Fuqua on board to direct.
