Long range box-office forecasts are out for Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” with the superhero film tracking for a major opening.
According to a new report from Box Office Theory, ‘First Steps’ is aiming for an opening of somewhere between $125-136 million.
That would be one of the three biggest Summer openings for a Marvel film alongside “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Thor: Love and Thunder,” and coming in ahead of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” which had $117 million in its debut.
Those projections could go higher or lower the closer we get to release. Right now though they’re well ahead of the opening weekends of both “Thunderbolts” at $76 million and “Captain America: Brave New World” at $100 million.
The news follows on from Fandango indicating that the title had the best first-day pre-sales of any film this year. “Superman,” which is aiming for a $175 million opening, hasn’t made its tickets available for sale yet.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will open in cinemas on July 25th.
