“Strange Angel” and “Revenge” actress Elena Satine has been cast opposite John Cho in the ten-episode live-action adaptation of the cult Japanese space western animated series “Cowboy Bebop” for Netflix.
The jazz-inspired, genre-bending story follows a ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts, as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world … for the right price.
Satine will play Julia, a mysterious woman from Spike Spiegel’s (John Cho) past and a sultry beauty with a voice to die for. Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda and Alex Hassell also star.
“Thor: Ragnarok” scribe Chris Yost will write the first episode and executive produce. Shinichiro Watanabe, director of the original anime, will serve as consultant.
Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg serve as showrunners and executive produce with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, Shin Sasak, Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg.
