Bob Iger has found his successor.
The Walt Disney Company’s Board of Directors announced today that, in a unanimous vote on Monday, they have elected Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro to become the new Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company.
The new position will come into effect in about six weeks, effective as of the upcoming Annual Meeting on March 18th, when he will take over from longtime Disney CEO Robert A. Iger.
In an official press release, The Board says they intend to appoint D’Amaro as a director immediately following that meeting.
D’Amaro is a 28-year veteran at the company and the architect of the largest global expansion in Disney Experiences history. Disney Experiences is the company’s largest business segment with $36 billion in annual revenue.
Concurrent with that appointment, Disney Entertainment and co-chairman Dana Walden has been named President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company – also effective March 18th.
In her new role, Walden will report directly to D’Amaro and “will ensure that storytelling and creative expression across every audience touchpoint consistently reflect the brand, engage audiences at scale, and advance core business objectives, while driving enterprise-wide initiatives and translating vision into action.”
Upon transition, Iger will continue to serve as Senior Advisor and a member of the Disney Board until his retirement from the company on December 31st 2026.
