A day after Warner Bros. Pictures pushed back “Tenet” from July 31st to August 12th, Disney has delayed its live-action adaptation of “Mulan” by a month.
The film, which was to hit in March and more recently has been targeting July 24th, will now arrive in cinemas on August 21st – the move effectively ends any hope of Hollywood salvaging a summer movie season this year.
“Tenet” and “Mulan,” both budgeted in the $200 million range, have effectively been playing a game of chicken as to which will be the first blockbuster to test the waters in cinemas again. While many other films have been delayed a half year or more, delays on these two titles are happening in smaller increments – adjusting as conditions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic changes.
