David O. Russell & Paramount+ Set “FIFA”?

As part of a larger article on the ousting of David Nevins as chairman and C.E.O. of Paramount Premium Group and CCO of Paramount+ Scripted Series, a surprise reveal of a project has emerged.

Puck News reports that a deal is allegedly in place at Paramount+ that will see “Joy” and “Amsterdam” filmmaker David O. Russell helm the pilot for a limited scripted series set in the soccer world and titled “FIFA”. The outlet indicates Paramount also has a first-option deal with Russell to direct two other projects.

Any further specifics on said “FIFA” series are under wraps, but the news comes as the streamer is aggressively growing and talk continues about the eventual incorporation of Showtime fully into the Paramount+ service which has 43.3 million global subscribers and projections to hit 100 million by 2024.
