Colin Farrell has officially signed on to both star in and executive produce HBO Max’s spin-off series from Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman” film.
Farrell will reprise the role of The Penguin, a role requiring extensive make-up, which he portrays in the new film. He co-stars with Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as The Riddler.
The new series will reportedly delve into The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld. Lauren LeFranc is attached to write the script for the series which Reeves and Dylan Clark will executive produce.
The project is separate from the Gotham Police Department procedural series which has Joe Barton attached as showrunner. “The Batman” is due to be released on March 4th 2022, no word as to when the series might premiere.
Farrell most recently wrapped shooting Martin McDonough’s “The Banshees of Inisherin”.
