“Clue” Scripted Series Set At Peacock

Paramount Pictures

Back in October came the news that Sony Pictures Television and Hasbro Entertainment were pursuing a scripted TV series adaptation of the classic murder mystery board game “Clue” (aka “Cluedo”).

Writer/executive producer Dana Fox (“Wicked”) and director/executive producer Nicholas Stoller (“You’re Cordially Invited”) took the project out to market with several prospective buyers expressing interest at the time.

Now, THR reports that Peacock has emerged as the winner and where the project will be developed.

In the series, a group of strangers are invited to an eccentric billionaire’s murder mystery night to solve the famous questions – who, where and with what – they quickly discover that nothing is what it seems to be, and the stakes are even higher than life or death.

Tone wise the series is said to be akin to Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” franchise – a murder mystery with comedic overtones, as opposed to the more full slapstick and wordplay of the beloved 1985 film adaptation.

Fox is writing and will serve as showrunner, Stoller is set to direct. The two executive produce alongside Gabriel Marano, Margy Love and Conor Welch.

Hasbro is also workng on a “Dungeons & Dragons” live-action series at Netflix and “Magic: The Gathering” for Legendary, along with an unscripted “Clue” competition series at Netflix.
