CBS TV Studios is developing a TV series based on classic 1995 comedy “Clueless” and its subsequent short-lived TV series.
The CW and numerous streamers are reportedly interested in the project which will reimagine the story and shift the focus so that the central character is Dionne who was played by Stacey Dash in the feature.
The new take is set in the present and described as a “baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look” at what happens after high school Queen Bee (Cher) disappears.
Her life-long number two (Dionne) steps into her vacant Air Jordans and must deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unravelling the mystery of what happened to her best friend.
Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (“Will & Grace”) will pen the new take as “American Gothic” creator Corinne Brinkerhoff will executive produce alongside Tiffany Grant.
