Heather Graham has joined the cast of CBS All Access’ upcoming event series adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand”. Graham will play Rita Blakemoor, a wealthy woman who is ill-prepared for the end of the world and attempts to escape superflu-infested New York City.
Graham joins previously announced cast like James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Eion Bailey, Katherine McNamara, Hamish Linklater, Alexander Skarsgard and Whoopi Goldberg. [Source: Deadline]
“Vikings” star Alexander Ludwig will join Michael Shannon in the Ivy League rowing drama “Swing”. from director Michael Mailer and writer Vojin Gjaja. The story follows a group of friends and crew teammates in their last year at an Ivy League college in 1999.
Their lives are changed when an army vet takes over as coach of their dysfunctional rowing team. Ludwig is set as Alex Singleton, the cocky, arrogant and mean team leader whom everyone hates but he is the strongest rower and his father is the school’s Athletic Director. [Source: Deadline]
A Spark Of Light
Joey King (“The Act”) is attached to star in the limited series “A Spark Of Light” which has been set up at Sony Pictures TV and is based on the novel by Jodi Piccoult. What appears to be another day of service at a woman’s reproductive health services clinic becomes tragic as a desperate and distraught gunman bursts in and opens fire, taking all inside hostage.
A police hostage negotiator arrives at the scene just as gets a text that his fifteen-year-old daughter (King) is inside the clinic. Doug Robinson, Allison Greenspan, Jodi Picoult, Joey King, Dan Spilo and Jaime King all executive produce. [Source: Deadline]
Keeley Hawes (“Ashes to Ashes,” “Bodyguard”) will take the title role in ITV drama series “Finding Alice” which follows a woman who loses her husband of twenty years in a freak accident only to find he has left her to unravel a trail of secrets, debt and criminality. Hawes created the project which will trace Alice’s darkly comic journey. Roger Goldby and Simon Nye will write the six-parter and production will start early next year. [Source: Variety]
Mark Strong is in talks to join Shailene Woodley in Damian Szifron’s serial killer thriller “Misanthrope” for FilmNation. Szifron co-wrote the script with Jonathan Wakeham based on an original story by the director.
Woodley will play a talented but troubled cop who is recruited by the FBI to help profile and track down a murderer. Strong is making a deal to play her boss and mentor. Aaron Ryder, Stuart Manashil and Woodley will produce. [Source: Collider]
