Boyega Wright To Lead Mcqueens Small Axe

“Star Wars” alum John Boyega and “Black Panther” scene-stealer Letitia Wright have scored major roles in “Shame” and “Widows” director Steve McQueen’s upcoming anthology series “Small Axe” for The BBC and Amazon.

Years in the making, the series will comprise six parts and tell five different stories – all set in London’s West Indian community starting in the late 1960s and running until the early 1980s. Malachi Kirby, Shaun Parkes, Rochenda Sandall, Alex Jennings and Jack Lowden co-star.

McQueen conceived the anthology’s stories with Alastair Siddons and Courttia Newland. Production is now underway on location in London.

Turbine Studios and Lammas Park are producing the series with Anita Overland, Mike Elliot, Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner executive producing.
