Three names have reportedly emerged on the DC Studios casting short list for the role of the villain Brainiac in the “Superman” follow-up “Man of Tomorrow”.
“Dracula” and “The Square” Danish actor Claes Bang, “Doctor Who” and “House of the Dragon” British star Matt Smith, and American acting veteran Sam Rockwell have all reportedly made the list according to Nexus Point News.
The names have not been independently verified, but no offers have been made and casting remains ongoing. The outlet adds that budget restrictions at DC Studios may prevent certain desirable names from being cast.
James Gunn is set to write, direct, and produce the film in which David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are set to reprise their roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively and will serve as co-leads of the film. Additionally, Frank Grillo is confirmed to return as Rick Flag Sr.
The report comes hot on the heels of Gunn taking to Threads to dismiss a report claiming Wonder Woman’s love interest character Steve Rogers appears in the film.
Shooting on the new film is expected to kick off early next year ahead of a July 9th 2027 release.
