Armie Hammer Departs “The Offer” Series

Armie Hammer has dropped out of the Paramount+ TV series “The Offer” which deals with the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather” in the early 1970s.

In December, Hammer was attached to lead the ten-episode series in the role of producer Al Ruddy. The show would chronicle his experience working on the iconic film. The search is now on for a new series lead.

Hammer’s dropping out comes just weeks after he exited the J-Lo rom-com “Shotgun Wedding,” and the online chatter surrounding a series of unverified Instagram direct messages involving graphic sexual fantasies involving cannibalism and other extreme acts.

Hammer previously issued a statement saying he wouldn’t respond to “bulls— claims” and called the controversy “vicious and spurious online attacks against [him].”.

Michael Tolkin is writing and executive producing “The Offer” alongside Ruddy, Nikki Toscano and Leslie Grief. This all comes ahead of the CBS All Access rebrand as Paramount+ on March 4th.
