Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in the English-language reimagining of 2019 Korean feature “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” for Paramount Pictures.

“The Conjuring” and “Aquaman” filmmaker James Wan has been set to direct the project while “Train to Busan” and “The Roundup” star Ma Dong-seok (aka Don Lee), who starred in the original film, is attached to reprise his role in the new take.

The original followed a police officer (Kim Mu-yeol) and a crime boss (Lee) who reluctantly team up to track down a serial killer (Kim Sung-kyu). With each having their own motives to capture the killer, double-crosses and cat-and-mouse games ensue.

Eric Pearson (“Thunderbolts”) wrote the latest script, based on previous drafts by Shay Hatten (“John Wick,” “Rebel Moon”) and Brian Helgeland (“L.A. Confidential”) with the latter executive producing.

Wan and Michael Clear will produce via Wan’s Blumhouse-Atomic Monster banner. Other producers include Lee, Sylvester Stallone, D. Matt Geller, Chris Lee, Jang Won-seok and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

The project is expected to mark Wan’s first directorial feature since 2023’s “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”.
