Barker Has Many Ideas For More “Hellraiser”

Boss Team Games

Author and filmmaker Clive Barker says the recently released “Hellraiser: Revival,” a video game adaptation of his iconic horror franchise, is a call to action for more stories set in that universe.

Developer Boss Team Games (“Evil Dead: The Game”) and publisher Saber Interactive recently released the single-player, first-person, survival-horror action game.

You play as Aidan, a man who wields the ‘Genesis Configuration’ puzzle box. He journeys across the hellish abyss to aid his missing girlfriend, who has been taken by the Cenobites.

Speaking with Dread Central, Barker says he has ‘many ideas’ as to where to take the franchise next:

“I think what was achieved in the game is a wake-up call to anyone who’s been involved in the making of a franchise like Hellraiser. It says to get your ideas warmed over so you can go back into existing worlds in a brand new way. I have many ideas that I’d like to see realised in the Hellraiser universe, and I’m planning to keep my fingers in that pie.”

Barker’s 1986 novella “The Hellbound Heart” resulted in a franchise that has sparked multiple movies, the most recent being 2022’s reboot, which starred subsequent breakout stars Odessa A’zion, Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn and Adam Faison, along with “Sense8” alum Jamie Clayton as Pinhead.

Barker controls the rights to the franchise which returned to him in 2020.
