Amazon Prime Video has released a teaser trailer for “Bloodaxe,” the new series from “Vikings” and “The Tudors” creator Michael Hirst alongside his son Horatio Hirst.
The project marks the third Viking series for Hirst following History Channel’s original “Vikings” and Netflix’s spin-off “Vikings: Valhalla”.
The new series is NOT narratively connected to those two and is its own thing, with the time period set in the 10th century – between those two shows.
The story follows the rise of Erik Bloodaxe (Molyneux), one of the most notable Norse raiders in history, and his wife Gunnhild (Madsen). As the formidable duo fights for the throne of Norway, the land is ripped apart by rivalries, loyalties and betrayals.
The kingdom braces for the war on the horizon in this new Norse saga, as other Scandinavian kings and even an English king are drawn into the chaos.
Xavier Molyneux, Jessica Madsen, Levi Miller, Karlis Arnolds Avots, Rod Hallett, Alina Tomnikov, Sisse Marie, Rune Temte and Jesper Christensen star.
Morgan O’Sullivan, Steve Stark, Arturo Interian, John Weber and Sheila Hockin also executive produce. “Bloodaxe” is set to premiere on the streamer on January 20th 2027 with a second season already in production.
