“Bridgerton” Gets Another Prequel Series

Netflix

Netflix has announced that it has ordered a new “Bridgerton” prequel spin-off series.

Currently untitled, the limited series will “chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton”.

Ruth Gemmell has played family matriarch Lady Violet for all four seasons so far, but the show has yet to announce casting for her younger counterpart.

Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will serve as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners. Betsy Beers and Tom Verica will also executive produce with the latter directing.

The franchise previously released “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” a similar prequel spin-off limited series about young Queen Charlotte’s (India Amarteifio) relationship with King George III (Corey Mylchreest).

The fifth season due out next year will center on introverted middle daughter Francesca (Hannah Dodd), while the sixth will be on Claudia Jessie’s Eloise.
