Chernin Entertainment and developer Embark Studios are teaming on screen adaptations of the hit video games “ARC Raiders” and “The Finals”.
Chernin beat out a number of production companies and studios competing to nab the film and TV rights to the properties.
Launched a year ago, multiplayer title “ARC Raiders” has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and named best multiplayer game at the 2025 Game Awards.
It is set on a lethal future Earth ravaged by a mysterious mechanical threat known as ARC. Players enlist as Raiders to scavenge a vibrant, atmospheric world while contending with deadly machines and rival Raiders.
“The Finals” is a free-to-play first-person shooter set inside a virtual combat game show. Players compete for fame and fortune in destructible arenas modeled after real-world locations like Monaco and Las Vegas.
That title has registered more than 30 million players in three years.
Chernin Entertainment was behind A24’s successful “Backrooms” film along with the recent Netflix title “The Last House” and Apple TV’s “Chief of War”.
