A first look at Rachel Weisz reprising her role as librarian-turned-action heroine Evelyn O’Connell is here for the fourth film in the franchise that began with 1999’s “The Mummy”.
Set photos are flooding social media and regular media, including The Daily Mail, showing the now 56-year-old actress dressed up in a yellow polka-dot skirt, brown cropped jacket and matching wide-brimmed hat as she filmed scenes in London this past week.
The scenes themselves were recorded outside the British Museum. Her character was seen clutching a vintage leather briefcase while holding an old-fashioned transistor radio up to her face.
Weisz was aged 28 when she filmed the original 28 years ago, back in 1998, in Morocco and the United Kingdom. That film was set in 1926, so presumably the new one will unfold in the early-mid 1950s.
The scenes are expected to appear early on in the movie, which has yet to score a title. Her co-star Brendan Fraser is also back, the actor having visibly gotten into shape when he appeared at the Venice Film Festival last month.
Fraser and Weisz last co-starred in the second film, “The Mummy Returns,” in 2001. Weisz sat out the third film in 2008 with Maria Bello taking on the role.
