Netflix has released the teaser trailer for Peter Berg’s new film “The Mosquito Bowl” a little over a month ahead of its theatrical release.
The film will be available in select AMC theatres along with additional locations across the country for award eligibility starting on October 30th. The film marks the first Netflix-AMC partnership since “KPop Demon Hunters” was released.
The title will then be followed nearly four weeks later by a premiere on the streaming service on November 25th.
The film follows four of America’s most celebrated 1940s college football players who enlist in the Marines after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
As they train for the brutal invasion of Okinawa on the island of Guadalcanal, they take part in a legendary football game featuring some of the greatest players in college football history. Of the 65 players, 15 died within a year.
Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis play the quartet in the film based on Pulitzer Prize winner Buzz Bissinger’s bestseller. Berg and Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”) adapted the screenplay.
