Nicole Kidman Offered “Days of Thunder 2”?

Paramount Pictures

Those hoping Nicole Kidman would return for “Days of Thunder 2,” Randy Quaid included, may possibly get their wish.

Kidman co-starred in the original film with Tom Cruise, the Australian actress playing the character Dr. Claire Lewicki who, somehow, was a full-blown and well-regarded neurosurgeon at the age of just 22.

Her character becomes the love interest of Cruise’s Cole Trickle and the pair famously began an eleven-year real life romance after that. The last time they appeared together on screen was Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut”.

Recently, the news came that Anne Hathaway had scored the female lead role in the film, though specifics of Hathaway’s character are under wraps.

Now, a new report at Radar Online quotes an industry insider who claims that Cruise is eager for Kidman to reprise her role, but her current creative priorities and schedule make such a reunion complicated.

That said, the source also claims that Kidman has not officially passed on the offer yet:

“It’s a big leap for Nicole to jump onto a bro movie like Days of Thunder 2 for a male director from the Seth Rogen universe of frat boy comedies. Even if she’s just going to do a signature, one-scene cameo, it has to be creatively perfect for her to do it. The ball is in Nicole’s, and only Nicole’s, court.”

“Days of Thunder 2” is currently scheduled to hit cinemas in June 2028.
