Gal Gadot’s Message For New Wonder Woman

Warner Bros. Pictures

Ten years after she debuted in the part, actress Gal Gadot appears to be moving on from her most iconic role as Wonder Woman.

Speaking with Screen Rant while promoting her new Prime Video thriller “The Runner,” the actress was asked about her chances of a return to the role of Diana of Themyscira in James Gunn’s current DCU.

She says she hasn’t had “any specific conversations” about either reprising her role or taking on a new one like her former co-star Jason Momoa did. Last she heard, “they came to the studio, and they really wanted to develop the third one”.

She adds that was a while ago and she hasn’t “heard anything” since. Adria Arjona is rumoured to be taking on the role in next year’s Gunn-directed “Man of Tomorrow”, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Either way, Gadot has offered a message of support for whoever gets the role next:

“This is such an incredible character that so many of us care about so much, so whoever it’s going to be to portray her, I wish for her that she enjoys this amazing ride with this amazing character. And I’m just grateful that I was granted the opportunity to wear her boots and celebrate this incredible character and everything she stands for.”

The actress first appeared as the character in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” before leading her own solo “Wonder Woman” film in 2017, the latter still considered the best film the DCEU produced. She reprised it in 2017’s “Justice League” and 2020’s “Wonder Woman 1984” along with brief appearances in “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” and “The Flash”.

She most recently shot “Bitcoin” for Doug Liman.
