Netflix has premiered the official trailer for the second season of Guy Ritchie’s action-comedy series “The Gentlemen”. The series serves as a spin-off of the 2019 film, which Ritchie directed, and has also just been officially renewed for a third season.
Theo James and Kaya Scodelario lead the cast and return for eight more episodes, reprising their respective roles as aristocrat Eddie Horniman and drug empire heiress Susie Glass. Ray Winstone, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, and Giancarlo Esposito also return.
The first season sees Eddie (James) becoming the new Duke of Halstead following his father’s death and inheriting the family’s sizable country estate – including the illegal weed farm located underneath it, run by the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie (Scodelario) and her crime boss father, Bobby Glass (Winstone).
Although hesitant to join the criminal lifestyle at first, Eddie develops a taste for it and finds an unexpected ally in Susie as they face down the UK and Europe’s most notorious gangster families.
In the new season, we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes as Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players.
At the same time, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound and so Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all.
Second season additions include Hugh Bonneville, Michele Morrone, Benjamin Clementine, Sergio Castellitto, Benedetta Porcaroli, Amra Mallassi, Chris Eubank Jr and Maya Jama.
Ritchie is returning to direct and will co-write the series with Matthew Read. The second season premieres on September 3rd.
