Following the poster this morning, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the teaser trailer for filmmaker Ti West’s “Ebenezer,” a new take on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.
Johnny Depp will play Ebenezer Scrooge in the film and was on hand, in full costume and make-up, to promote the movie at San Diego Comic Con. Depp showed up both at a Paramount panel and at a pop-up store meant to represent Scrooge’s office.
The film is described as a “thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, following one man’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future and fight for a second chance”.
The cast also includes Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Daisy Ridley as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
Also onboard are Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Fred, Charlie Murphy and Ellie Bamber as the Fezziwigs, Nicholas Day as a Minister, and Arthur Conti as a young Ebenezer.
The project has a script by Nathaniel Halpern while Emma Watts is producing. It will mark Depp’s first major studio lead since 2018. Filming took place in Dublin and London earlier this year.
“Ebenezer” is set for a November 13th 2026 theatrical release.
