“Rings of Power” Season 4 To Film In Early 2027

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” has reportedly begun scheduling a fourth season, with shooting to commence early 2027.

The news comes ahead of the show’s third season, which is set to return in November. The series has so far kept a gap of around two years between seasons, and an early 2027 shoot would suggest a likely 2028 airing for the fourth season.

The fourth season has not officially been greenlit as yet, but the streamer has continued to be confident in the series, which is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age appendices.

Amazon previously said the series has attracted over 185 million viewers worldwide and “is one of the highest performing and most-viewed titles ever on Prime Video”.

The third season will jump ahead ‘several years’ from season two, and takes place at “the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will – and at last rule all Middle-earth.”

Amazon made a five-season production commitment when it acquired the television rights.
