“The Odyssey” Coming In Under Three Hours

Universal Pictures International

Producer Emma Thomas has ‘guaranteed’ to Deadline that Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Greek mythological epic will clock in at under three hours.

The film is still in post-production, and Thomas tells the outlet she wasn’t quite sure of the actual running time yet, since they are still in post-production.

“Oppenheimer” is the sole film of Nolan’s to cross the three-hour mark, but other efforts like “Interstellar” at 169 minutes and “The Dark Knight Rises” at 164 minutes have come close.

This raises the obvious questions about how he intends to adapt Homer’s sprawling poem in under three hours – tackling everything from the Trojan Horse and Cyclops to the Sirens, Circe, Calypso, Nausicaa, Poseidon, etc., along with everything involving Odysseus’ son Telemachus and wife Penelope.

Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo and Himesh Patel co-star in the film which will be hitting cinemas and IMAX on July 17th.
