The proposed fourth season of Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian” looks to be joining the list of series finding their productions disrupted by the ongoing writer’s strike.
According to sources for Deadline, the Disney+ series is expected to push the start of production for a fourth season which has not yet officially been announced by Disney or Lucasfilm.
Earlier this year, series creator Jon Favreau confirmed that the scripts for the fourth season had already all been completed. Originally the new run of episodes was looking to begin filming in September, which is still four months away.
Even with scripts done and a good few months before filming begins, delaying the production start will help avoid the potential issue of there being no writer present on set or picketing interrupting production.
Shows currently in production, such as the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again,” are being disrupted. “Star Wars: The Acolyte” and “Andor” S2 have been shooting in the UK and are continuing to do so.
Other “Star Wars” shows like “Ahsoka” and “Skeleton Crew” are already in post-production ahead of releases later this year. The third season of “The Mandalorian” finished airing last month.
