The Vanessa Hudgens and Tayshia Adams-hosted MTV Movie & TV Awards returned to screens after a COVID hiatus with real-life couple Zendaya and Tom Holland dominating the night thanks to “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Euphoria”.
Both projects won best film and TV series respectively, with both actors winning for best performance in those categories. “Euphoria” also won nods for ‘Best Fight’ and the ‘Here for the Hookup’ award.
“Loki” took two awards – one for Best Ensemble cast, another for Best Breakthrough Performance for Sophia Di Martino as female Loki.
Other winners included Scarlett Johansson (“Black Widow”) for Best Hero, Daniel Radcliffe (“The Lost City”) for Best Villain, Ryan Reynolds (“Free Guy”) for Best Comedic Performance, Jenna Ortega (“Scream”) for Best Frightened Performance, “Jackass Forever” for Best Kiss, and J-Lo’s “On My Way” from “Marry Me” for Best Song.
On the reality front, “Selling Sunset” won best docuseries, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” won best competition series, “Selena + Chef” got best lifestyle show, “The D’Amelio Show” won Best Unscripted series, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” won best talk show, Kelly Clarkson won Best Host, “Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u” won best music doco, and Paris Hilton won best reality return.
Notable nominees, including “The Batman,” “Dune,” “No Time to Die,” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Squid Game,” “Ted Lasso,” “Yellowstone,” and “Moon Knight,” all walked away empty-handed.
