Though its been known for many months, the filmmakers of the upcoming “Batgirl” feature have finally confirmed that Michael Keaton is back in the Bruce Wayne/Batman role in the film.
Speaking with Insider, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah discussed the casting with Fallah saying: “The O.G. Batman is in the movie”. Keaton is reprising the role for both “Batgirl” and the upcoming “The Flash” movie, the latter is currently slated for a mid-2023 release.
The big question is – will “Batgirl” come out first? Filming on both titles is already complete with both in post-production. “The Flash” has moved release dates several times whilst “Batgirl” has yet to set one.
El Arbi tells the outlet it’s not clear when their film will open: “We don’t know when ‘Batgirl’ is coming out. No one told us nothing about tweaks, just to carry on.”
The comments come in the wake of a Variety piece this week that says Warners is still proceeding as usual in regards to “The Flash” with no plans to reshoot or dump it direct to HBO Max.
El Arbi and Fallah, who directed “Bad Boys for Life,” helmed several episodes of the upcoming “Ms. Marvel” series which launches on Disney+ on June 8th.
