20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot for the upcoming Fox “X-Men” feature “Dark Phoenix,” the new clip showing Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey fully exploiting the power of the cosmic force that now resides in her.
The fourth film of the ‘First Class’ era, the story will adapt the seminal Marvel Comics storyline ‘The Dark Phoenix Saga’ in which Jean is taken over by a dark entity that will tear her apart. In the process, the X-Men try to stop her from destroying the universe.
Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jessica Chastain, Tye Sheridan, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Evan Peters co-star in the film which opens June 7th.
Next, Fox Searchlight has released a new featurette for the upcoming J.R.R. Tolkien biopic “Tolkien” starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins. Dome Karukoski helms the film which also stars Colm Meaney, Craig Roberts and Derek Jacobi, and it opens May 10th.
“Tolkien” explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the ‘fellowship’ apart and his experiences inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.
Finally, Disney’s live-action remake of its classic 1992 animated feature “Aladdin” has released its first official clip along with a new TV spot and a new poster. Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, and Navid Negahban as the Sultan. The film opens in cinemas on May 24th.
