“IT” director Andy Muschietti and “Avengers: Infinity War” helmers Anthony and Joe Russo are teaming up for a film adaptation of Simon Stalenhag’s illustrated novel “The Electric State”.
Set in a re-imagined low tech apocalyptic mid 1990s vision of the American West, the story centers on a runaway teenager and her yellow toy robot as they travel through a strange USA where gigantic battle drone derelicts litter the countryside.
As their car approaches the edge of the continent, the world outside unravels ever faster as if somewhere beyond the horizon, the hollow core of civilization has finally caved in.
The Russo Brothers Studio recently won a heated bidding war for the project which Muschietti is negotiating to direct and produce alongside his sister Barbara Muschietti.
Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, who have penned all the Russos directed Marvel Studios films to date, will write the script. Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder will produce.
