John Cho Injury Delays Cowboy Bebop

Actor John Cho has sustained a significant knee injury on the set of “Cowboy Bebop,” the live-action series adaptation of the famed anime classic for Netflix.

Cho has the lead role in the series of Spike Spiegel, a cool bounty hunter with a deadly smile and wry wit. The show has been picked up for ten episodes and follows a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals.

The project only began filming a week ago in New Zealand but the injury is severe enough to require surgery and the entire production has reportedly been put on hiatus for seven to nine months whilst Cho recovers in Los Angeles. Once his prognosis is more clear, a new production schedule will be announced.

Details of the injury are still forthcoming but it supposedly happened during a rehearsed sequence that was not considered to be a large-scale stunt. Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda and Alex Hassell also star in the series.
