Elizabeth Banks isn’t letting the bombing of “Charlie’s Angels” get her down as the in-demand actress/filmmaker has been set to both direct and star in “Invisible Woman” for Universal Pictures.
Erin Cressida Wilson (“The Girl on the Train”) penned the current script draft based on an original pitch by Banks who will also produce with Max Handelman. Plot specifics are under wraps but is likely more of a sci-fi comedy tone like the original 1940 film.
The news comes three months out from the release of Universal and Blumhouse’s “The Invisible Man” starring Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. That Leigh Whannell-directed film is much more of a dark psychological thriller with a sci-fi tinge.
Banks and Universal previously teamed on the highly successful “Pitch Perfect” franchise.
