Hans Zimmer and his Bleeding Fingers Music company will compose the score for HBO‘s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series.
Based on the books by author J.K Rowling, it’s expected that each season will adapt one of the seven books in the saga, the longer runtime allowing for a larger exploration of the wizarding world.
In a statement to press, Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman say:
The musical legacy of ‘Harry Potter’ is a touch point for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude. The responsibility is something that myself, Kara Talve and Anže Rozman do not take lightly. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it. With this score we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before.”
The series is led by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as the titular character, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
Joining them are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, and Gabriel Harland as George Weasley.
The TV adaptation is expected to make its debut sometime in early 2027. John Williams handled the scores of the first three “Harry Potter” films with Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper and Alexandre Desplat handling the subsequent films.
