Catherine Zeta-Jones has joined the cast of the TV series continuation of the “National Treasure” franchise for the Disney+ service.
The series focuses on young Jess (Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
Zeta-Jones is Billie, a penniless orphan turned badass billionaire adventurer, businesswoman and black-market antiquities expert. She’s also a treasure hunter who lives by her own code.
The actress joins Lisette Alexis, Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, and Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith in the series which begins filming this month in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Rick Muirragui serves as writer and executive producer. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jon Turteltaub, Mira Nair, Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed also executive produce.
