Renee Zellweger is set to star in the one-hour drama series “Avenger Field” currently in development for NBCUniversal’s streamer Peacock, MGM Television and WaterWalk Entertainment.
The story follows the establishment of a clandestine all female US Airforce program during the second world war called the WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) who helped battle Hitler from home and bring soldiers home safely.
The project is inspired by the true story of WASP leader Jackie Cohran (Zellweger) and the diverse group of women who fought the system, skeptics and even sabotage.
Felicia D. Henderson is attached to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Zellweger can be seen today with the premiere of the NBC limited series “The Thing About Pam”.
