Rachel Zegler, the leading lady of Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” this Christmas, is set to star as Snow White in Disney’s live-action adaptation of their legendary 1938 animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
Marc Webb will direct and Marc Platt will produce the new take on the Brothers Grimm fairytale with shooting expected to start in 2022. The new film will expand upon the story and music from Disney’s inaugural feature with “La La Land” and “The Greatest Showman” duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul penning new songs for the movie.
Webb says in a statement: “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”
Zegler is currently filming a role alongside Zachary Levi in the DC Comics adaptation “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”.
